Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn acknowledged there had been “problems” with quarterback Tyrod Taylor‘s treatment for chest disaster Sunday but Taylor is “getting better smartly.”
Lynn did not define on what resulted in Taylor being hospitalized, but he acknowledged the quarterback was house Sunday night and at practice Monday.
Though rookie Justin Herbert played smartly in his first inaugurate — a 23-20 time previous legislation loss to the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs — he is silent the crew’s No. 2 quarterback so long as Taylor is healthy.
“If Tyrod is 100 p.c, he is our quarterback,” Lynn acknowledged. He added that Herbert is “a backup for a motive.”
Lynn, nonetheless, acknowledged he would not enjoy ample knowledge yet to assess Taylor’s likelihood of playing Sunday towards the Carolina Panthers.
If Herbert will get the nod another time, he’ll be extra ready this time, as Lynn acknowledged he’ll win his rookie quarterback “extra reps in practice until Tyrod’s help.”
The slack alternate at quarterback came as a surprise to each person, including starting operating help Austin Ekeler, who acknowledged he didn’t know Herbert was starting until “each person else knew.”
Ekeler complimented Herbert, asserting the foremost-round capture “handled himself smartly” and, in taking just a few hits, confirmed his toughness and athleticism.
Herbert was 22-for-33 for 311 yards and a touchdown with one interception. He also ran 4 yards for a earn.
