Y’all already know how essential I fancy lasagna, so after I sat down to dinner in Baton Rouge and somebody served me this dish that used to be care for a Southern trip on it, you know I fell in fancy. The crushed Ritz crackers on the backside appropriate soak up the total essential tomato juices, and the layer on top provides it a buttery, crunchy crust. In between, it’s all melty, creamy, cheesy greatness.

Serves 8

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Flippantly oil a 9-by-13-shuffle baking dish.

2. In a dapper sauté pan over medium-high warmth, drizzle within the olive oil. As soon as the oil is scorching, add the onions and cook until tender, 3 to 5 minutes.

3. Next, add within the tomatoes, basil, salt, thyme, and pepper. Proceed. Cook for 15 minutes, then flip off the warmth and pickle the pan to the side.

4. In a dapper mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, cheddar, and Havarti. Dwelling apart.

5. Within the baking dish, sprinkle 1/3 of the crushed Ritz crackers (establish 1 cup for the topping!). Form obvious that that it is a ways spread evenly on the backside. Pour half of of the tomato mixture on top of the Ritz crackers. Repeat the layers.

6. Prime the layers with the mayonnaise-and-cheese mixture and unruffled out. Sprinkle the closing 1 cup crushed Ritz on top. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Accumulate a ways from the oven and let sit for 15 minutes sooner than serving.
