On the sixth anniversary of his third album 2014 Woodland Hills Drive, J. Cole delivered a present to his fans: the song video for “Fireplace Squad.”
In the BBGUN-directed visible, which used to be shot in Kingston, Jamaica, a dinky lady faces off in an intense chess sport with an aged opponent and cautions him of any man who crowns himself a king “because deep down, he clings to the need for energy.” But Cole (real name Jermaine Lamarr Cole) would no longer hold to mentioned energy; he owns it fearlessly. “All of us kings/ Kings of ourselves on the initiating/ While the other folks debate who’s the king of this rap sport/ Here comes lil’ ol’ Jermaine,” he raps in the outro.
His Dreamville Recordsdata announced on Twitter that it’s re-uploading loads of the North Carolina MC’s worn song videos after they were beforehand deleted. “And since it is the anniversary #FHD here’s the sector premiere of the never before launched video for ‘Fireplace Squad,'” Dreamville’s reliable myth wrote.
