Queen Elizabeth and her guards honored the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by playing the “The Star-Spangled Banner” right thru the Altering of the Guard on Saturday morning.
Though the Queen, 95, wasn’t contemporary for the ceremony at Windsor Fortress, she did liberate an announcement regarding the anniversary to President Biden.
“As we mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible assaults on 11th September 2001, my thoughts and prayers — and americans of my family and the total nation — remain with the victims, survivors and families affected, as effectively because the first responders and rescue workers known as to responsibility,” the Queen wrote.
Her Majesty also reflected on her hurry to to the positioning of the World Change Heart in 2010, which she said is “held speedily” in her memory.
“It jogs my memory that as we honour those from many worldwide locations, faiths and backgrounds who lost their lives,” she persisted, “we also pay tribute to the resilience and backbone of the communities who joined collectively to rebuild.”
The tribute echoed Queen Elizabeth breaking royal protocol to play “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the first time right thru the Altering of the Guard at Buckingham Palace on Sept. 13, 2001.
Prince Andrew represented the Queen by attending the 45-minute ceremony the keep over 3,000 onlookers waved American flags and held their palms over their hearts because the anthem performed, per the Guardian’s document from 2001.
A deepest memorial carrier can even occur on the September 11 Memorial Backyard in Grosvenor Sq. to mark the anniversary, the BBC reports.
After sunset, 67 candles will be lit in honor of the British victims of the assault.
The event used to be organized by the September 11 UK Families Toughen Community.
