US Capitol Police Officer Dies by Suicide, Second Demise Since Riot

A 2d U.S. Capitol Police officer, Howard Liebengood, has died following Wednesday’s riot. Though no trigger of death used to be formally announced, Punchbowl News reports that it used to be by suicide.
Liebengood, 51, used to be assigned to the Senate Division and had been with the department since April 2005.
“Our thoughts and prayers exit to his family, visitors, and colleagues,” reads a assertion from the Capitol Police. “We quiz that his family, and diversified USCP officers’ and their families’ privacy be respected correct thru this profoundly refined time.”
